FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Big Picture Software Partners with Nevada Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors to Implement Advanced Licensing System

Reno, NV – February 4, 2025 – Big Picture Software is proud to announce its selection by the Nevada Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors (NVBPELS) to implement a comprehensive online licensing system. This decision comes after two previous vendors were unable to complete the implementation of a new licensing system. Big Picture Software was chosen for its proven track record of successful implementations and its established presence with other licensing boards within the state of Nevada.

The NVBPELS, established under the Professional Engineering Act of March 29, 1919, and expanded to include Professional Land Surveying on March 31, 1947, is dedicated to safeguarding life, health, and property by licensing qualified and competent professionals. The board currently oversees a significant number of licensed engineers and land surveyors across the state.

Big Picture Software will implement and configure a comprehensive online Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) Software as a Service (SaaS) licensure system for the Nevada Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. This system will streamline key licensing functions, including online registration renewals, application processing and registration, and certification for Engineer Interns (EI) and Land Surveyor Interns (LSI). A fully functional database and repository will be established, along with Continuing Education Unit (CEU) tracking and reporting capabilities.

The new system will seamlessly integrate with the board’s existing website and be hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) with Tier III security standards. It will also enhance public access to licensing information through online license verification services, enabling firm registration lookups, compliance public records access, advanced search functionality, and data downloads. Licensees will benefit from a self-service portal for managing their credentials, while the system will support secure payment processing, automated reporting for state requirements and financial records, and e-blast/mass mailing capabilities for efficient communication.

Additionally, Big Picture Software will handle the migration of approximately 42,000 records from the board’s legacy system, ensuring data integrity and continuity. Compliance tracking, API integration with the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES), and the ability for users to print updated registration cards directly from the website will further enhance operational efficiency. To support a seamless transition, the project includes dedicated staff training, ongoing support, and a project manager to oversee implementation and ensure successful deployment.

"We are honored to partner with the Nevada Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors to deliver a state-of-the-art licensing system," said Troy Rauschenberger, Director of Government Markets at Big Picture Software. "Our team's experience and commitment to excellence will ensure a seamless implementation, enhancing the board's ability to serve its licensees and the public effectively."

This collaboration underscores Big Picture Software's dedication to providing innovative solutions that meet the unique needs of licensing boards and regulatory agencies.
